ABOUT ME

When I was three years old, I decided that someday I would become what I at the time called a “booker-maker.” Now, almost twenty years later, I still haven’t changed my mind.

My name is Alexa Rae Blakley, and I've been obsessed with stories for as long as I can remember. While growing up in my family’s merry-go-round workshop, I wrote my first series: a collection of children’s books about carousel figures that came to life. Those early stories sparked a passion that has only grown with time.

Since then, I’ve been striving toward my ultimate goal: writing and publishing a full-length novel. But as a college student, balancing my passion project with the demands of academic life has been no easy feat.

But I know I’m not alone in this struggle. Many young writers like me are juggling school, work, and personal commitments while trying to carve out time for their writing dreams. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed or unsure of where to start, especially when the path to publication seems daunting. That’s why I created Chapter One—to share the tips, resources, and encouragement that I’ve found helpful, and to connect with others who are on the same journey. Together, we can turn our writing dreams into reality!
